Cool Beans, My Dude.
Cool Beans was a coffeeshop I designed to celebrate the funky and unique styles of the 1990s. The Memphis Group has impacted a lot of my personal tastes, so I wanted to represent that in at least one of the projects in my portfolio.
Creative Process
Though this was a passion project, it wasn’t always easy, and I learned a lot. Here’s a bit more of my process.
Inspiration
I designed Cool Beans to be a fun, vibrant coffeehouse where people could escape the modern world and return to a simpler, more tubular time.
I knew that I wanted to call back to not only 90s internet café culture, but also the feeling of optimism that pervaded the decade.
The 90s were such a unique time where things seemed to be looking up, and I wanted to bring that fun and exuberant vitality to my branding.

Identity System
My goal with the branding was to keep it in those classic 90s jewel tones, with pops of Memphis-inspired patterns. I found that the more I committed to the boldness,
the better the project looked.
